(Kennel Club of Beverly Hills)
   Sat June 23, 2007
Regular Judge: Mr. Edd Bivin

Our 74th Specialty is now part of STCC history. Mother Nature smiled on us with beautiful cool weather. The entry was great sixty seven in the regular classes and twenty five in sweepstakes. This year the Club offered $200.00 cash for first in bred by dog and first in bred by bitch. The lucky winners were Dr Robert and Charlene Gann with Gallica’s Great American first in bred by dog and Barbara Casey with Casi’s Temper Tantrum for first in bred by bitch. Barbara also won winners bitch with Temper Tantrum and retired The Ch Baleshare Bluebriar Trophy for winners bitch est. 1975 and The Florence Wolman Memorial Trophy for Best of Winners est. 1984. Retiring a Specialty Challenge trophy is very exciting and something for Barbara and the Casiscot’s to be proud of. Winners dog went again to Barbara with Casi’s Endless Journey. Our Best of Breed competition was won By Ch. Charthill Empire Maker with Best Opposite going to Ch Roundtown Mercedes of Maryscot. Awards of Merit went to Ch Charthill Virtuoso, Ch Warscot’s Morgans Midas Touch, Ch Gallica’s War of the Roses, Ch Cadscot’s Amber Rose and Ch Grampian’s Irene Adler. Congratulations to all.

This year’s show was dedicated to the memory of club member David Seifert. Long time club members Pamela Offutt and Karen Higgins were our Ring Stewards. Thanks go to Linda and Adrian Sanchez for serving as Advertising Chairs turning in ninety ads to Paul Lafontaine who produced an exquisite 74th Specialty Memory Book. These books can still be ordered from Paul. This year’s theme was Christmas in June the decorations by Sylvia Moody were admired by all. Our trophy chairs Jacki Forkel and Sherry Swickard selected beautiful Mikasa crystal items for our specialty. Our hard working sales team in our Ways and Means booth brought in outstanding sales, hats off to Sherry and Joe Swickard, Karen Payne, Sylvia Moody, Darrah and Web Whitlock, Katy Cutter, Julie Hill and Jacki Forkel. Bruce and Shirley Waterman ran another successful Silent Auction. As always Charlene Bennet with the help of Stella Parsons provided the club with a lovely Hospitality Suite and three days of lunch at the shows. Our dinner Chair Hilda Miyamura welcomed members and friends to our Annual Awards Banquet. The banquet room was decorated with lovely decorations selected by Hilda. Our raffle chair Carol Joans headed the drawing for the lovely raffle items she selected for the Club. Thanks go to all the members and friends who work so hard to make our Specialty a success.

Plans are already in motion for our 75th Diamond Jubilee Specialty in 2008. Anyone wishing to work on a committee contact one of the 2008 co-chairs Jeanie Jennings or Linda Sanchez.

Text Box: Dear Members of STCC,

Thank you so much for organizing such a successful 74th specialty. I have been attending your show almost annually since your 50th specialty, and look forward to attending your 75th! I am grateful to those members that have supported me as an associate member. Your club has been my original regional club since the early eighties.

I enjoy seeing the experienced members that knew me then as well as getting to know the newer folks. Your club's encouragment of participation and involvement by junior members was rewarding to see. My special thanks to Jeanie for her job as show chair. The entire weekend was a fitting tribute to David. It was odd to not see him present on Saturday. I am sure he would have had some humorous jabs to make about our wins by the second day.

A genuine thank you to the Jennings, Forkels and Sherry Swickard for seeing to it that exhibitors got to use the tent nearest the rings. It was so helpful to be able to see the classes, check ring times and keep the dogs nearby. Paul's advertizing book was a quality work. David and I will keep it and pour over it time after time. As usual the Scottie boutique was plentiful and the luncheons delicious! Kudos go to Charlene and the entire group of workers that manned both booths. The trophies were all unique and the idea of winning cash for Bred-by was a wonderful one.

It is evident that the members of STCC are dedicated to putting on a memorable and smoothly run specialty for the comfort and convenience of the exhibitors and their dogs.

Thank you, all!
